What AcroBot does
- Site Audit: crawls up to 2,000 pages of a site (10,000 at most) and checks titles, links, redirects, speed signals, structured data, robots.txt, sitemaps, llms.txt and whether AI assistants can read the site.
- Local SEO check: compares the website's name, address, phone and hours with the business's Google profile.
- Broken-link check: sends a light
HEAD/GETrequest to links that point to other sites, so it can report broken outbound links. - Ownership check: fetches one file (
/acrobot-verify-<token>.html) or reads a DNS TXT record (acrobot-verification=<token>) when a site owner verifies their site with Acro.
AcroBot does not build a public index, sell data, train AI models, fill in forms or try to log in. By default it does not follow nofollow links.

A site owner who has verified ownership with Acro can ask for an audit with a standard Chrome User-Agent. That is the only case where we crawl without the AcroBot name, and it is always from the IPs below.
IP addresses
AcroBot only crawls from these addresses. Requests that claim to be AcroBot from any other IP are not from us.
| IP | Reverse DNS | Status |
|---|---|---|
3.6.24.92 | crawl-1.bot.getacro.ai | Active |
A machine-readable copy is at https://getacro.ai/bot/ips.json. Firewalls and scripts can read it the way they read Google's googlebot.json.

}Unlike crawlers that rotate through large IP ranges, AcroBot only crawls sites a customer asked us to audit, so it uses a short, fixed list you can trust and allow-list.
How AcroBot crawls
- Starts at the homepage and the sitemaps, and follows links on the same site.
- Reads robots.txt at the start of every audit and obeys the rules for
AcroBot, or*when there is no AcroBot group. - By default it crawls at most 2 requests per second per site (120 URLs per minute). It halves its speed on
429/503or slow responses, honoursRetry-After, and never drops below one request every 2 seconds. An Acro customer can raise the limit to 5 requests per second; anything faster needs the site owner to verify ownership. - One crawl at a time per site, across all of Acro's servers.
- Audits run when a customer starts one, and on a schedule (weekly by default).
- Never crawls private or internal network addresses.
How to block AcroBot
Add these rules to robots.txt in the site root, and on each subdomain.
# Block AcroBot completely
User-agent: AcroBot
Disallow: /
# Or block only some folders
User-agent: AcroBot
Disallow: /private/
Disallow: /checkout/Changes apply from the next audit, because robots.txt is read at the start of each one. If robots.txt is missing (HTTP 404), AcroBot crawls normally. If it returns a server error (5xx) or can't be reached, AcroBot treats the whole site as off-limits and stops.
How to allow AcroBot
If your firewall or host blocks AcroBot, the audit stops or reports false errors. Allow-list these IPs:
3.6.24.92Cloudflare: free plan (Bot Fight Mode)
Security → WAF → Tools → IP Access Rules → 3.6.24.92 → Allow → this website. A custom rule with Skip does not work here, because Bot Fight Mode runs outside Cloudflare's rules engine. If it still challenges, turn Bot Fight Mode off.
Cloudflare: Pro and above (Super Bot Fight Mode)
Security → WAF → Custom rules → (ip.src in {3.6.24.92}) → action Skip → tick Super Bot Fight Mode, Managed rules and Rate limiting.
Wordfence (WordPress)
Wordfence → Firewall → All Firewall Options → Allowlisted IP addresses that bypass all rules → paste the IPs → Save.
Sucuri
Sucuri dashboard → Firewall → Settings → Access Control → Allowlist IP → add each IP.
cPanel / ModSecurity hosts
Ask the host to allow-list the IPs in ModSecurity / Imunify360 / CSF (csf.allow). Email template: “Please allow-list AcroBot's IPs 3.6.24.92 (getacro.ai/bot) in your firewall for <domain>.”
Shopify / Wix / Squarespace
No firewall control. These platforms rarely block AcroBot. If they do, email us.
How to check that a visit was really AcroBot
- The IP is in the list above (or in ips.json).
- Optional:
host <IP>returnscrawl-N.bot.getacro.ai, andhost crawl-N.bot.getacro.aireturns the same IP.
FAQ
Why does AcroBot request pages that don't exist?
Another page or the sitemap links to them. The audit reports these as broken links so they can be fixed.
Will AcroBot slow down my site?
No. By default it caps itself at 2 requests per second and backs off as soon as the site slows down.
Does AcroBot run JavaScript?
Not by default. A customer can switch on rendering for sites built with JavaScript. It runs from the same IPs.
I blocked AcroBot but it still visited.
An audit that was already running finishes its current pages. From the next audit, robots.txt is respected. If it continues, email us.
Is my data shared or used to train AI?
No. Audit results, including copies of the crawled pages, are kept so each audit can be compared with the last one. They are seen only by the Acro customer who ran the audit and are never used for AI training.
